Here’s how AI drives Shared Services solution
As we said last week in this blog, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an integral part of a Shared Services-based automation solution, allowing the performance of repetitive tasks to be assigned to computer “robots,” increasing efficiency, reducing administrative costs and allowing an organization to standardize its services and processes, and free its employees to work on core competencies.

But how does an AI “robot” work?

Continuous advances in computer abilities and new and advanced deep learning algorithms have given machine learning teams the ability to train computer “robots” to identity and classify images. This process relies on an infrastructure that includes both the hardware and software needed to develop an algorithm that can perform at abilities and speeds equaling – or exceeding – that of a human employee.

This learning process involves the following steps:

  • Gathering enough images to train an algorithm
  • Using annotation software to highlight the imagery being learned
  • Combining the algorithms with graphic processing units (GPUs) to allow for the processing of large amounts of date
  • Using software to integrate with a client’s own system to process the data

This process can affect all areas of a Shared Services-based automation solution, from centralized mailroom to data capture, ECM to print and mail, as well as bill payments, claims payments and claims and bill processing. An experienced, reliable BPO provider that utilizes AI as part of a Shared Services solution can have a dramatic impact on your organization’s bottom line.
